Jupiter 12/15 and Palm Beach 12/17

12/15
Well we really wanted to hang up the kite after this unreal cold front so we got the opportunity on Wednesday to do it. Since it was 31 degrees out when we woke up, we all put on about ten layers of clothes before heading back outside. :roflmao: We picked up some gogs and we headed out the inlet around 7:30 to about 2-3 ft choppy seas. Perfect for the kite fishing!! We set up the kite in 110 ft and before we get both the baits out we had a nice little king come skyrocket a bait. Two minutes in and fish in the boat, beautiful thing! Finally, we get both of the baits on the kite out and no more than 10 minutes later, we get a double on sails. They were jumping all over eachother so it was just a great time going under, over, under, over! We ended up getting both fish to the boat and my buddy Brandon wanted to get some video of the sails in the water so he jumped in. About an hour went by without another hit then out of nowhere there was a huge explosion on the short bait. We were in 130 ft so of course I was thinking to myself "it's a little deep for kings, man in striped suit?" What do you know a beautiful wahoo shows his face and I hit him right through his gills with the gaff! There were high fives all around. We then pushed in a little shallower to 110 ft and ended up pulling in a few little dolphin off the kite and one more sail; to end the day. Good eats for sure!
Total Tally:
3/3 Sails
3/4 dolphin
1/1 Wahoo
1/1 King

12/17:
After catching a wahoo on Wednesday, we decided we would high speed early before this full moon this weekend. We hopped on my buddy Brandon's 28 Grady-White (Sweet Ride!) at 6:00 and headed out of Palm Beach. We high speeded from the inlet to just south of the breakers when we get a hit not on any of our actual wahoo lures but the billy bait that we send way the hell back for tuna. Keep in mind it's rigged with 40 lb mono and a little j-hook. What do you know here comes a nice little wahoo with the hook right in the corner of the mouth. (I guess better lucky than good) We trolled a little longer til we decided to put up the kites again off of Lost Tree. There was life everywhere we had a couple of cutoffs and short strikes but then we finally got a nice sail come through and we hooked up. She was all lit up at the boat and it was an awesome sight! We only had one more sail come through the spread but just checked out the baits and left. :why: Well it was a fun couple of days of fishing. Were eating good and there biting. The sails should be chewin again with this other cold front getting ready to come through. :toast: :toast:
Total Tally:
1/2 Sails
1/1 Wahoo
0/3 Kings
